Course Overview
This five day, instructor led PostgreSQL Database Administration certification training course is designed for beginners and experienced professionals who want to gain a better understanding of database administration using the PostgreSQL platform. The certification training course teaches individuals how to successfully use PostgreSQL for its SQL language and effectively store and scale even the most complex databases. Since the PostgreSQL platform has been steadily developing and growing for more than two decades, learning its database administration features and tasks is necessary to stay current with the platform and its changes over time. At the completion of this certification course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the PostgreSQL Server architecture and advanced features to effectively manage databases.
- Install PostgreSQL Server and configure essential environment variables for optimal operation.
- Create, configure, and manage PostgreSQL clusters and servers, ensuring secure and efficient database environments.
- Implement robust security measures, manage user access, and encrypt sensitive data to protect against unauthorized access.
- Utilize PostgreSQL tools such as pgAdmin and psql for database administration, monitoring, and querying.
- Design and manage database schemas, tablespaces, and objects, optimizing storage and schema organization.
- Employ transactions and concurrency control to maintain data integrity and support simultaneous database operations.
- Analyze and optimize database performance by tuning queries, collecting statistics, and identifying bottlenecks.
- Conduct regular database maintenance, including vacuuming, re-indexing, and updating table statistics to prevent performance degradation.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure minimal downtime during disaster recovery scenarios.
