Course Overview
This two- day instructor led course is designed to teach participants how to effectively communicate their organization’s business information and data into charts, graphs and tables. These skills will allow participants to understand data metrics to recognize business trends, predict outcomes, and identify new insights. The course will then examine how to properly construct data visualizations models, prevent misrepresentation of data and help teams communicate with data language. By the end of this course, participants will have enhanced their data literacy and developed more compelling methods for interacting with data in their careers. Specifically, this course will teach participants to:- Identify basic concepts of color as a tool to highlight, distinguish, or represent a value
- Understand the importance of redundant coding to ensure you provide key information in multiple ways
- Use the visualizations directory, a graphical guide to commonly used types of data visualizations
- Manage large datasets
- Transform data sets into clear and understandable figures
- Determine the best visualizations for story telling
- Get extensive examples of good and bad figures
- Use figures in a document or report and know how to employ them effectively to tell a compelling story
- Review common visualizations problems and create effective solutions
