Course Overview
This one-day, instructor-led course is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of the skills needed to initiate and manage meetings. Meetings can vary in nature, ranging from formal events to quick huddles in office hallways. This course will help participants feel confident leading small working meetings, preparing them to adapt to more complex meetings as needed. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the value of meetings as a management tool
- Recognize the critical planning steps that make meeting times more effective
- Identify process tools that can help create an open and safe forum for discussion
- Develop and practice techniques for handling counterproductive behaviors
- Implement organization skills for planning and preparing
- Recognize the audience profile for the participants
- Determine how to select a time and place
- Develop and utilize the agenda during the meeting process
- Review meeting roles and responsibilities
- Feel confident facilitating meetings and encouraging participation for meetings members
