Course Overview
This two day instructor-led, Late Retirement course is designed to give employees an in-depth understanding of the federal civilian retirement process and what employees should expect between now and retirement. This course will provide employees with an in-depth knowledge of retirement annuity and tax-planning as well as health care strategies in retirement. Understanding how their benefits work in retirement allows employees to begin preparing for their future and making informed decisions. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand late-career retirement options and the structure of FERS
- Evaluate retirement readiness by reviewing pension eligibility, TSP savings, Social Security, and health coverage
- Set and adjust retirement goals to align with benefits, timing, and lifestyle plans
- Maximize federal savings and income through TSP strategies, matching, and annuity options
- Navigate healthcare in retirement, including FEHB, Medicare, and supplemental coverage
- Plan for taxes, estate needs, and survivor benefits within the federal system
- Manage lifestyle, emotional, and financial transitions into retirement
- Use federal resources, tools, and expert support to build a personalized action plan
