Average CCSP Salary for 2017

In less than 100 years, computers have evolved from massive behemoths that took up entire rooms into some of the tiniest gadgets you possess. While computer processing has gotten better and technology has improved allowing computer hardware to become smaller, the amount of data needing to be stored has grown.

The growing need for data storage has been met by cloud computing and data being stored in “the Cloud.” Cloud computing a term used to refer to services delivered via the internet. “The Cloud” is a cloud computing-based IT infrastructure, that supports storage of important data and IT information. Cloud computing has given way to new IT careers and certifications, such as Certified Cloud Security Professionals.

Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

Interests in safeguarding crucial information and cloud-based IT operations has been surging gradually. For this purpose, (ISC)2 and Cloud Security Alliance united to launch the credentials for Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) in 2015. Although being a newly-introduced profession, CCSP brought a tide of impact with more than 1600 certified professionals across the globe.

The demand for CCSP certified professionals grows as the prevalence of cloud computing increases, translating to higher salaries. However, the average salary takes into account many factors; such as years of experience and geographic location.

A 2016 study broke down the average CCSP salary. In 2016 the average salary for US-based CCSP professionals was $133,820 annually. For professionals outside of the US, the average CCSP salary was $101,360.

5 Highest Paying Areas for CCSP Salaries

According to Glassdoor, New York, NY comes first with the highest average CCSP salary of $135,000. It is followed by Philadelphia, PA,  Washington, DC, and Dallas-Fort Worth, TX with $112,000, $90,000 and $85,000, respectively. Last but not the least; Shreveport, LA Area comes fifth with average CCSP salary of $82,000.

Experience-Based Salaries of CCSPs

The best thing about the salary of CCSPs is that it increases with experience. Glassdoor reveals that even if you are a novice to this field, you can expect to earn an average CCSP salary of $78,802 per annum.
