Humble Beginnings and Bold Prophecies
Born out of the nurturing environment of the Betamore technology incubator, ZeroFOX has become one of Baltimore’s most notorious startups. Since their launch in January 2013, headlines in major newspapers and stations continue to generate buzz around the innovative venture. Among their accolades are Maryland Cyber Company of the Year and BBJ Top 5 Cyber Companies to Watch.
All this attention could go to anyone’s head. But acclaimed CEO, best-selling author, and industry expert James C. Foster probably didn’t need the ego-boost. He firmly stated in interviews that the performance of cyber security companies today is unacceptable. They fail to identify attacks. His platform replaces these “outdated” strategies. As a result, ZeroFOX attacks main challenges and sets out on a mission to solve them.
Why do over 100 companies want ZeroFOX already?
Their mission is simple: to protect businesses from data breaches and hacks. Their approach, however, is unique. They respond to recent evolutions in hacking by focusing primarily on protecting businesses from social media attacks.
They pride themselves in using sensors and plugins from other developers to identify potential attackers and block the attacks before they hit. And echoing their CEO’s belief that, “installing software is officially dead,” they operate completely on a cloud-based platform.
The software is already at work in many companies, including Maryland-based Dunbar Digital Armor. In February of 2013 there were over 100 companies on the waiting list for their BETA version, which launched this past summer.
Though it has not yet been released which other companies are currently operating on ZeroFOX solutions, I’m sure we will hear more about it as we draw closer to the final software release date.
Also, last month ZeroFOX announced “Operation CyberProtect” which provides free cyber security to non-profit organizations.

“We are hiring…come be part of the story”
This company experienced exponential growth within one year. At one point Foster reported that he hired a new person every other week consistently for six months.
Though their initial growth phase slowed down a bit, they are still hiring for several IT positions. If you think ZeroFOX could be a good fit for you, check out their current openings or submit a general application for ZeroFOX Jobs.
