Course Overview
This two day instructor-led course is designed for mid-career employees seeking to enhance their retirement outlook and develop a realistic retirement plan. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of how federal benefits contribute to meeting retirement goals. Participants will learn to create a retirement readiness index and develop a financial plan tailored to their retirement income needs. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand what financial planning involves and its key components
 - Identify federal employee benefits and determine which support your financial goals
 - Assess risk tolerance for building wealth
 - Calculate Social Security benefits and potential earnings based on timing
 - Understand annuity benefits, eligibility, and how they are calculated
 - Learn how retirement options affect you and your survivors
 - Incorporate FERS benefits into your overall retirement plan
 - Determine Medicare eligibility and understand available coverage options
 - Enroll in Medicare during the initial enrollment period
 - Prepare a retirement readiness index and financial plan based on income needs
 - Understand the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and contribution strategies
 - Evaluate withdrawal methods to meet retirement goals
 - Optimize contributions to TSP and FERS accounts for long-term growth
