Course Overview
The Early Career Retirement Planning course extensively covers all aspects of Federal Retirement and benefits planning and provides valuable insight that reduces the complexity in retirement planning. After this course, employees will better understand the benefits package, requirements for retirement eligibility, creditable service, leave review, healthcare, life insurance benefits, annuity calculations, and TSP benefits. The course will also focus heavily on the financial aspects of retirement and financial planning. This interactive course blends benefits education with practical tips on maximizing federal retirement benefits through activities and discussion. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the key principles and steps involved in effective financial planning.
- Identify and evaluate various retirement benefits and insurance programs available to federal employees.
- Explain the role of Social Security in retirement planning and how benefits are calculated.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of Medicare, including coverage options and enrollment considerations.
- Analyze the features and benefits of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and how it supports long-term retirement savings.
- Understand the structure and benefits of the Federal Employees’ Retirement System (FERS).
